Fracturing Technical Sheets

A.P.I. Spec Frac Sand

The objective when performing hydraulic fracturing treatments is to increase conductivity throughout the propped fracture and to the wellbore. If your well is not performing as you anticipated after a fracture treatment, the problem may be with the quality of the sand you are pumping.

ASP 820 Friction Reducer

With the reintroduction of "Slick Water Fracturing Treatments" to the oil and gas industry, reducing pipe friction while pumping at high rates is essential.

Bio Clear 1000

Bio-Clear 1,000 rapidly and effectively kills microorganisms encountered in oil field operation, including sulfate reducing and algal slime forming bacteria. It is 100% active, dry brominated propionamide, commonly described as DBNPA. It is packaged in special water-soluble bags that will quickly dissolve even in cold water.

Borate Cross-Link Fluid

Many of the oil-bearing formations in the Illinois Basin have high permeability, but are also high in natural silts and fines. To sustain production, most formations must be hydraulically fractured.

Encapsulated Enzyme Breaker

DRB-EZ is an encapsulated enzyme breaker for use as a delayed release breaker for hydraulic fracturing fluids. It can be substituted for conventional enzyme breakers currently being used in fracturing fluids. It is designed for use in fluids with a pH below 8.5 and a temperature up to 180 degrees Fahrenheit but can be used above a pH of 8.5 if ran in conjunction with DRB-SB buffering agent.

Franklin Gelled Oil System (FGO)

Some of the oil-bearing formations in the Illinois Basin can be sensitive to water and therefore prevent the use of conventional water gelling system.

Fracturing Pump & Blending Unit

Franklin Well Service, Inc. is the largest oil and gas service company in the Illinois Basin. Franklin always takes the lead in equipment innovation. Our fracturing units provide accurate sand density control by the use of a densitometer to measure the sand concentration real time in PPG.

LEB-10X

LEB-10X is a highly concentrated liquid enzyme break. It is a mixture of ethylene glycol, water, sugar, hemicelluase enzyme and a safe biocide for use as a water gel breaker. It is effective with both linear and cross-link fluids.

Well Stim

The use of surfactants in acidizing and water based fracturing fluids is important in fluid entry, recovery and subsequent clean up of treating fluids. Franklin's Well Stim is a unique multifunctional nonionic surfactant. It is a micellar solvent that is soluble in oil, acid, and water. It functions as a surfactant because it lowers the surface tension of the water and acid, and also lowers the interfacial tension between acid (or water) and oil.

WGA-1

WGA-1 is a Hydroxypropylguar (HPG) gelling agent that self hydrates for continuous mixing or pre-gelling. Dispersants and pH buffers allow easy, lump-free mixing of WGA-1 to quickly develop maximum viscosity. WGA-1 is normally used at concentrations of 20–50 pounds per 1,000 gallons.

WGA-2

WGA-2 is a Gaur gelling agent that self-hydrates for continuous mixing or pre-gelling. Dispersants and pH buffers allow easy, lump-free mixing of WGA-2 to quickly develop maximum viscosity. WGA-2 is normally used at concentrations of 20–50 pounds per 1,000 gallons.

WGA-5

WGA-5 is a Carboxymethylhydroxypropyl guar (CMHPG) that is used as a water-based gelling agent. It can also be used to viscosify brines and acid. WGA-5 is normally used at concentrations of 20–50 pounds per 1,000 gallons.

Zirconium Cross-Link Fluid

Many of the oil-bearing formations in the Illinois Basin have a high permeability but are also high in natural silts and fines. To sustain production, most formations must be hydraulically fractured. To complete fracturing treatments in high permeability zones, a viscous fluid must be pumped to control leak off. Reliable breakers are also critical due to the low BHST in the Illinois Basin.
